Digital content from key events in the 2018 Great Run series will be delivered to audiences faster than ever before using Forbidden’s Blackbird™ technology in a deal facilitated by sport content strategists Fanview.
Blackbird will enable Great Run’s host broadcaster FilmNova to edit high-quality highlights on site and deliver them to digital platforms much more quickly and efficiently than at present, starting at this weekend’s Great Edinburgh XCountry.
In a pilot conducted at the same event last year, the increase in speed of content delivery to the GreatRunTV YouTube channel resulted in overnight views that would normally take months to achieve.
Blackbird provided a cloud solution for real-time editing and publishing using a lightweight, high performance codec. The implementation of Blackbird freed up production to be placed wherever it was needed, with minimal requirements – a laptop and bandwidth – to create and deliver content rapidly to a range of digital and social media platforms.
Phil Sibson, managing director of FilmNova, said: “We were delighted with the results of the trial at the Great Edinburgh XCountry. The smooth workflow and delivery of fast turnaround highlights was rewarded with a tangible uplift in views on our social media platforms. We are excited about being able to provide rapid high-end content on Great Run social media throughout 2018.”
Jim Irving, founder and partner of Fanview, said: “After completing a successful pilot, Fanview is excited to be able to match FilmNova’s ambition to increase publishing speeds of their content and grow their audience with Forbidden’s Blackbird.”
